Aitkenvale Family Health Centre

Background & History:

The Aitkenvale Family Health Centre began in 1991 with two general practitioners, but quickly expanded to three within 12 months. It then shifted to 165 Ross River Road and expanded to include two more GPs. The practice remained in that location for the next seven years and during this time grew to a total of seven GPs. In early 1999 the practice became fully computerised and was fully accredited in October 2000. In July 2001 it moved to its current building where it offers family medicine and other health services in the one building. The practice has since grown to nine GPs. The current location is in the geographical centre of Townsville & Thuringowa on one of the main arterial roads next to the city’s largest shopping centre, Stockland.

Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness. This Practice is committed to promoting wellness and disease prevention to all patients. We do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with due respect. We are GPA Accredited.
